GÖDÖLLŐ CLIMATE CLUB

19 September 2012

Minutes – English summary

People present: 15 persons

After a long summer break we got together again and we shared a lot of useful and interesting information with each other during this afternoon.

1             1. Visiting the nearby waste management centre

Finally we finalized the appointment. The weekends are more suitable for most of us for the visit, so we recommend these Saturdays: October 13, October 20 and November 17.

2. We are looking for local coordinators

The GreenDependent Institute is looking for volunteer climate-coordinators for the implementation of the EnergyNeighbourhoods project.

You can download the details and the application form from this website: http://www.energyneighbourhoods.eu/hu/%C3%B6nk%C3%A9ntes-kl%C3%ADma-koordin%C3%A1torokat-keres%C3%BCnk

The applications are welcome until 10 October 2012 and have to be sent to vera [at] greendependent.org email address.

3. How to build a homemade solar collector from aluminium beer cans?

The main topic of this club was the introduction and conversation with our new group member who has built a solar beer collector at his home.

The interesting presentation gave us some useful tips and help for those who are interested in starting building a solar beer collector by themselves.

The date of our next club meeting:

17th October, 17 o’clock:

According to the preliminary plans and proposals, the families who performed the best in the Kislábnyom’ (Small Footprint campaign) competition last year in Gödöllő - many of whom are members of the club too -, are going to report on their best practices, which are not only something we can do for the environment, but also save money.

Other important dates:

Tree-planting action in the autumn

GreenDependent hosted an international conference where the organizers collected donations to neutralize the carbon dioxide emissions of the event.

This obtained amount enable us to plant 45 native fruit trees.

Thanks to the cooperation with the Municipality some of the trees will be planted in public places but we also plan to plant them in private gardens where the a long-term caretaking of the trees is guaranteed.

We wish a warm welcome to our new members and we hope the old members will keep up their participation in the club!
