Irregular Gödöllő Climate Club meeting with garden swap and garage sale

30 April 2011

Our climate club meeting was organized on the last day of April. It was unusual in many aspects. First, our last meeting had made us realize that there was a growing demand for a garden swap event, where plants and seeds could be changed by the club members. We decided to arrange it on this sunny Saturday within the framework of our club meeting. The other unusual aspect was that this event was joined to the garage sale of the Regina Foundation where many useful stuff (pieces of furniture, clothes, household gadgets) could be bought.

We were keen to see how the garden swap would work, because neither of us was experienced in such things. We are happy to announce that it turned out pretty well; lots of plants and seeds had been brought by our club members, who were enthusiastic to look for an other plant in exchange of theirs. Of course some of them brought more that they took and some of them brought less than they took, but finally they could arrange it, everybody was satisfied and no plants were left by the end of the meeting.

Since we spent the whole day outdoors, we had the idea of cooking in a cauldron in the garden. It was a useful thing because calories which had been burned by the extremely tiring acts of the garden swap could be made up at once :-). The menu was a traditional Hungarian food (goulash soup) in two forms: prepared with meat and without meat, so that the vegetarian participants weren’t left with an empty stomach. :-)

Since the weather was beautiful and sunny, everyone preferred to spend this time in the garden, so we decided to skip watching the “Farm for the future” film. We will do it at our next meeting.

Further information and the exact time of the next meeting will be announced soon.
